The National Coaching Certificate Program Special Olympics Canada Competition Sport Workshop is offered by the Special Olympics BC provincial office for coaches of athletes with intellectual disabilities.
All coaches (except for Active Start and FUNdamentals) are required to complete this course within their first year of coaching Special Olympics athletes.
The NCCP SOC Introduction to Competition workshop is a 13.5-hour course that will be delivered over three evenings.
This course is developed for adult learning and participation. The facilitator will lead coaches through modules such as coaching athletes with intellectual disabilities, program preparation, competition development, risk management, and much more. There is no exam with this course, pass or fail is simply dependent on participation.
There are limited spaces for this course, and spots will be secured on a first-come, first-served basis.
Coaches will receive more information about the course upon registration.
Please note: Attendees must attend the three nights of the course consecutively. You cannot take night 1 in one week and night 2 in another week/course offering. The three nights of participation must be consecutive and taken with the same course facilitator(s).
