Nomination

Nominations for the Hall of Fame are received from volunteers and athletes within each Local. Only one nomination per Local is accepted. Please contact Special Olympics BC Provincial Office for a nomination form.

The decision to induct an individual into the Special Olympics BC Hall of Fame is made by a committee comprised of the SOBC Board of Directors.

Criteria

Builder (Provincial/Local)

The individual selected for this honour will have:

  • Made a fundamental, lasting and positive impact on the development of Special Olympics BC over a period of time;
  • Made contributions and achieved accomplishments that have transcended the normal expectations of her/his role;
  • Brought recognition and honour to SOBC;
  • Been involved in Special Olympics BC for over four years.

Athlete

The individual selected for this honour will have:

  • Attained a high level of excellence in sport at an international level;
  • Made a significant impact on the community and SOBC through her/his achievements;
  • Brought recognition and honour to SOBC;
  • Been involved in Special Olympics BC for over four years.

Sponsor

The individual selected for this honour will have:

  • Raised over $500,000 for Special Olympics BC, or had a significant impact for 10 years or more;
  • Made contributions that have resulted in a major, fundamental and lasting impact on the development of Special Olympics BC over a period of time;
  • Made contributions and achieved accomplishments that have transcended the normal expectations of their role;
  • Brought recognition and honour to SOBC;
  • Been involved with Special Olympics BC for over four years.
