With seven months to go until the 2025 Special Olympics BC Summer Games kick off in Prince George, Co-Chairs Lyn Hall and Renee McCloskey announced the dedicated volunteers who are giving their time and expertise to the 2025 SOBC Games Organizing Committee. They joined Director of Fundraising Sandra Blackwell at a December 10 event to recognize the committee and launch the 2025 SOBC Games sponsorship program.
The 2025 SOBC Games Organizing Committee is comprised of experienced local volunteers who will be working hard over the next seven months to ensure a memorable and top-quality experience for more than 1,200 competitors with intellectual disabilities from all across the province. The determined Special Olympics athletes will come together in Prince George from July 10 to 12 to pursue personal bests and showcase their abilities in provincial competition in 10 sports.
“The Games Organizing Committee members have already jumped in with a lot of passion for offering the best possible experience for the Special Olympics athletes with intellectual disabilities from all over the province who will be making their way to our community to compete with pride and determination,” Hall said. “And when it comes to actually running the Special Olympics BC Games, we’re going to need a lot more volunteers from right here in Prince George, and a lot of sponsors to help make this rewarding experience possible. Fortunately, I absolutely know Prince George is up to the task. I sincerely thank everyone who is stepping forward to include and support Special Olympics athletes.”
2025 SOBC Games Director of Fundraising Sandra Blackwell recognized businesses and organizations that have already generously pledged their support:
PLATNUM Sponsor
PREMIER PARTNER
Host City
Funding Partner

The VINCI Canada Fund administered by Myriad Canada
Bronze

FUEL SPONSOR
“We sincerely thank the businesses and organizations that have raised their hands to make a difference for people with intellectual disabilities and inclusion in our community,” Blackwell said. “We’re off to a great start. But we do need more sponsors to generously step forward, in order to make sure we can provide a top-quality experience for the Special Olympics athletes with intellectual disabilities who will be coming together in our city to give their all on the fields of play. They deserve the best, and we know Prince George can give them the best.”
In addition to meaningful sponsorship opportunities, the 2025 Special Olympics BC Games also offer individual donors the chance to give the powerful gift of sport this holiday season. Gift and year-end donations to the 2025 Special Olympics BC Games will make a difference for the athletes with intellectual disabilities who thrive on this opportunity to challenge themselves and stand in the spotlight for their abilities.
Community members who would like to make an impact are invited to visit the Special Olympics BC Games homepage to learn more and connect to get involved as a sponsor or donor. More information on Special Olympics BC Games volunteer opportunities will be announced in the new year.
