Special Olympics PEI is largely a volunteer-based organization, and we depend on support from our partners and donors to provide programs, mentorship, and resources.  You can be certain that your donation will be put to use directly benefiting islanders with an intellectual disability. Furthermore, 100% of donations stay here in PEI. 

Your contribution, no matter the size, will aid us in ensuring that the over 600 children, youth and adults with an intellectual disability across PEI who use our programs are able to continue to do so.

Legacy Giving Options

There can be many benefits to Planned Giving besides getting to enjoy seeing the impact your gift can have in enriching the lives of Special Olympics PEI athletes. A planned gift is a very personal decision and we encourage you to discuss it with your financial advisors. Meet a PEI couple who made Planned Giving a reality. 

Gift of Securities

Donating publicly traded stocks, bonds, mutual funds and other securities is a tax-smart way to support Special Olympics PEI while enhancing your charitable gift.  By donating publicly traded securities, you eliminate the capital gains tax that would be payable if you were to first sell the stock, and then donate the proceeds.  

Donating securities is easy!  Simply fill out the Securities Donation Form to have your brokerage electronically transfer your gift of stock or securities from your account to Special Olympics PEI’s account.  You will receive a tax receipt for income tax purposes for the full appreciated value of your securities on the day that they are received.  

LEAVE A Gift in your will

After you have taken care of your family and loved ones, consider including Special Olympics Prince Edward Island in your will as part of your final estate plans. Here is some sample bequest language that you might like to share with your estate lawyer for possible inclusion in your will:

Sample Bequest Language: I, give, devise and bequeath to Special Olympics Prince Edward Island Inc, the sum of $_____________ to be directed towards the area of greatest need determined by the Board of Directors of Special Olympics Prince Edward Island Inc. I, give, devise and bequeath to Special Olympics Prince Edward Island Inc __________ percentage of the residue of my estate to be directed towards the area of greatest need determined by the Board of Directors of Special Olympics Prince Edward Island Inc. Upon the death of the survivor of my (wife, husband, etc.) ______________________ and my (son, daughter, etc.) ___________________ I direct my trustee to transfer and deliver the balance of the residue of my estate, including any undistributed income to Special Olympics Prince Edward Island Inc. to be directed towards the area of greatest need determined by the Board of Directors of Special Olympics Prince Edward Island Inc.
