Special Olympics PEI athletes, family members, caregivers and volunteers had a fantastic afternoon with Director of Sport Science and Performance for the Pittsburgh Penguins Andy O'Brien at Island Hill Farm with the Stanley Cup!
Over 50 Special Olympics athletes, along with family and caregivers, from all across the province, had the opportunity to attend this unique event. All those who attended had the opportunity to meet Andy, see the Stanley Cup up close, and get a photo with the iconic trophy.
Reflecting on the event, Flory Sanderson of Island Hill Farms said "what an amazing day August 8th was, not only did we get to see the Stanley Cup but we got to share it with some pretty amazing athletes! Thank you to Andy O'Brien for approaching us on using Island Hill Farm as the venue for this special occasion. With the amount of people there it was great to see Andy take the time to talk to everyone and give them their time with the Cup. There was many smiling faces as they all got a turn to say hello and get their picture with the Cup! It was an amazing day that I don't think we will ever forget!"
Thank you to Andy for including Special Olympics PEI in his day with the Stanley Cup and to Island Hill Farm for being such great hosts to us and our families!
