Team PEI 2024's Cross Country Ski Team will be represented by 2 athletes at the Special Olympics Canada Winter Games 2024 - Ellen MacNearney (Brudenell) and Tommy Ling (Charlottetown). They are supported by Head Coach, Kathleen MacNearney.
Both Ellen and Tommy are seasoned National Games athletes. This will be both Ellen and Tommy's forth National Winter Games in the sport of Cross Country Ski. Both Ellen and Tommy are multi sport competitive athletes. Ellen has competed at two National Summer Games, in 2014 and 2018, both times in the sport of swimming. Tommy has competed at one National Summer Games, in 2018 in the sport of Bocce. Furthermore, Ellen has the added experience of having represented Canada at the 2013 World Winter Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea.
Kathleen MacNearney brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the role of Head Coach for this Cross Country Ski team. This is Kathleen's third consecutive National Winter Games as Head Coach for Team PEI Cross Country Ski.
In February / March of 2024, Special Olympics PEI will be represented by 33 athletes, supported by 21 coaches and mission staff, at the Special Olympics Canada Winter Games 2024 in Calgary, Alberta. Team PEI will compete in 7 sports: 5-Pin Bowling, Cross Country Skiing, Curling, Figure Skating, Floor Hockey, Snowshoeing, and Speed Skating.
