Special Olympics PEI is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. This group of dedicated Islanders dedicate their time and talents to enriching the lives of Islanders with an intellectual disability through their volunteer service on our Board.
This week it is our pleasure to introduce one of our Directors at Large, Kristin Noonan.
Meet Kristin Noonan
Kristin Noonan joined Special Olympics PEI's Board of Directors in 2022 and serves as a non-voting Director at Large. With over a decade of professional experience in the National Sport System, Kristin brings a wealth of knowledge to Special Olympics PEI's Board. Kristin is a Safe Sport Facilitator with Sport Law, helping sport organizations across Canada elevate their sport while providing positive, safe, and inclusive environments. Previous to this role, Kristin was Manager, Coaching & Safe Sport at Softball Canada, and Manager, Sport Development & Outreach with the Canadian Deaf Sports Association, where she attended both Summer and Winter Deaflympic Games.
Kristin joined Special Olympics PEI's Board of Directors because of her experience and passion for advocacy. As a past teacher, with a strong sport background, Kristin has always enjoyed working with students and athletes with a disability.
When asked about her favourite Special Olympics moment, Kristin said, "I love seeing the athletes’ faces light up with pride, and how competitive they are. Whether participating alongside in fun events, or cheering from the sideline in competition, you can’t help but have a smile on your face, and feel the passion and energy surround you.”
