Special Olympics PEI has received a $20,000 donation from the PEI Automobile Dealers Association (PEIADA). This year is the 37th year that Special Olympics PEI has been the charity of choice for the PEIADA. This year’s donation brings the cumulative total donated to Special Olympics PEI over the past 37 years to over $303,000.
The PEI Automobile Dealers Association began supporting Special Olympics PEI in 1987, following the lead of its national body, the Canadian Automobile Dealers Association (CADA). 37 years later, the PEIADA still exclusively supports Special Olympics PEI as its charity of choice.
Each year the PEIADA holds the April Car Campaign, when Dealer Members remit to the PEIADA office, a sum of money for every new vehicle sold / leased during the month of April. This money goes towards a collective donation to Special Olympics PEI. This donation is coupled with the proceeds garnered from a live auction of several items at the PEIADA’s Annual Golf Tournament and Lobster / Beef Dinner.
Adam Toner, President of the PEI Automobile Dealers Association, was quoted as saying "Special Olympics is PEIADA’s long-standing charity of choice. Special Olympics does so much to foster inclusivity and enrich the lives of athletes and their families and friends, volunteers, and donors. We are delighted with the support of our Dealer Members and Associate Members through our April Car Campaign and our live auction to be able to make this outstanding contribution to Special Olympics PEI."
With 37 years of support, the PEIADA is one of Special Olympics PEI’s longest standing donors. Speaking about this year’s donation, Charity Sheehan, Executive Director of Special Olympics PEI says: “On behalf of our over 650 athletes, Special Olympics PEI remains grateful for the tremendous and long-standing support from the PEI Automobile Dealers Association. The funds raised through this campaign, for the past 37 years, have such a positive impact on our ability to offer quality sport programs, inclusive health, and athlete leadership opportunities for our athletes.”
