When and how did you get involved with Special Olympics?

I joined SOBC two years ago. I was approached at the curling club if I wanted to be the head coach for SOBC. Without hesitation I said, "I would love to be their coach."

Will this be your first Special Olympics Canada Games? If not, which other National Games were you part of and in what role(s)?

Yes.

What does it mean to you to be part of Special Olympics Team BC 2024?

This means everything for me to be a part of the National Games. It's such a great opportunity to support the athletes and be part of the adventure with them.

What is/are your goal(s) for these National Games?

My goals are to be the best coach I can be, learn from others, be a good role model, and support our athletes and those around me.

What is your favourite Special Olympics experience to date?

Every day I'm with the athletes is my favorite experience. Their sheer motivation and dedication is inspiring.

What storylines are you excited to see develop in your SO Team BC sport team leading up to the National Games?

It would be wonderful to see a storyline about the hard work and training, the obstacles and sacrifice that have been overcome, and dedication of our athletes.

What would you say about Special Olympics to encourage someone to get involved?

I do encourage people I talk to by saying that being involved in Special Olympics is rewarding on all levels. Their involvement allows individuals with intellectual disabilities the opportunity to be part of something amazing. With their support it allows SOBC programs to continue to run which in turn allows athletes to reach their goals, whether it be to have fun, for fitness, or to compete. Being involved does make a difference.
