When and how did you get involved with Special Olympics?

14 years ago, I got involved with Special Olympics. My mom got me into it, she was scorekeeping for bowling and told me how much fun it was, so I got involved. We both became coaches for bowling after that.

Will this be your first Special Olympics Canada Games? If not, which other National Games were you part of and in what role(s)?

In 2020 I coached bowling at the National Games in Thunder Bay.

What does it mean to you to be part of Special Olympics Team BC 2024?

It means a lot to me being part of Special Olympics Team BC 2024 to be able to see the different atmosphere.

What is/are your goal(s) for these National Games?

My goal for the National Games is to get my athletes to go out and do their best, and show SO Team BC what they are all about.

What is your favourite Special Olympics experience to date?

My favorite Special Olympics experience would have to be the 2020 National Games in Thunder Bay.

What does competing at National Games mean to your athletes? (or, if this is your first National Games, competition in general)

It means giving them the experience to see how different National Games are compared to Regionals, to see how important it is to be able to represent SO Team BC and go out and do their best while showing how much fun they can have in their sport.

What storylines are you excited to see develop in your SO Team BC sport team leading up to the National Games?

Being able to share with the other athletes the experience to represent SO Team BC, the travel they are going to experience and the friendships they are going to make while on this amazing trip of their lives. I am excited to see how much fun all of the athletes are going to have with this amazing opportunity to go out and show how good they are at their sport.

What would you say about Special Olympics to encourage someone to get involved?

If you have an opportunity to get involved in Special Olympics, the only thing I will say is DO IT, you won't regret it. It is so much fun, you meet so many great people, and you develop a family with everyone that is around you.
