Team PEI 2024's Snowshoe Team will be represented by 1 athlete, Rhonda Fall and 1 coach, Donna Campbell, at the Special Olympics Canada Winter Games 2024.
Rhonda has been a Special Olympics athlete for 5 years. She joined Special Olympics to make new friends and gain new experiences. In addition to Snowshoe, Rhonda also participates in Soccer, Golf, Swimming, Curling, Fitness, and Walking Program. Rhonda's favourite Special Olympics moment was winning 3 Gold medals at the 2023 Special Olympics New Brunswick Provincial Winter Games. The Special Olympics Canada Winter Games 2024 will be Rhonda's first National Games.
Donna Campbell is a long time volunteer with Special Olympics PEI. Donna first began volunteering 18 years ago as the Coordinator of the (former) West Prince Community Council. She first got involved because she wanted to provide sport programs for persons with an intellectual disability in West Prince. Over her time with Special Olympics PEI Donna has been involved in numerous capacities. Donna is a former member of Special Olympics PEI's Board of Directors, recently concluding her term as Secretary. Ahead of the 2017 Special Olympics World Winter Games Donna was a Training Coach for one of PEI's Team Canada athletes. In additional to Snowshoe, Donna also coaches Athletics. The Special Olympics Canada Winter Games 2024 will be Donna's first National Games as well.
Rhonda is further supported by Team PEI Training Coach, Michele Chapman. Michele leads the Montague Snowshoe / Walking program.
In February / March of 2024, Special Olympics PEI will be represented by 33 athletes, supported by 21 coaches and mission staff, at the Special Olympics Canada Winter Games 2024 in Calgary, Alberta. Team PEI will compete in 7 sports: 5-Pin Bowling, Cross Country Skiing, Curling, Figure Skating, Floor Hockey, Snowshoeing, and Speed Skating.
