When and how did you get involved with Special Olympics?
I joined in 2006/2007. I got involved with Special Olympics shortly after I dropped out from my high school track team, I just couldn't keep up with any of them, and I was waiting for the bus when I saw some of the local athletes at the track. I walked over to them and that's when I first met Randy, I asked him if it was possible for me to join them and he said "Yes" and that's how it all started for me.
Will these be your first Special Olympics Canada Games? If not, which other National Games did you compete in, and in what sports?
It will not, I've been to Special Olympics Summer Nationals 3-4 times and I've been to Special Olympics Winter Nationals two times.
What were your results in the 2023 Special Olympics BC Winter Games? How did you feel about your performance?
We placed 1st in the Special Olympics BC Winter Games in floor hockey. Our team did amazing the whole way through the Provincial Games, both on and off the field of play.
What does it mean to you to be part of Special Olympics Team BC 2024?
It means another amazing experience and more fun at these National Games.
What is your goal for these National Games?
My goal is to help the team win gold this year! And, to collect more pins!
What does competing at National Games mean to you?
It means a lot to me because it allows me to show everyone what I've been training for.
What do you like most about the sport you will compete in at National Games?
I like the camaraderie we all share as a team.
What would you tell someone about Special Olympics to encourage them to get involved?
Special Olympics is an amazing group of people that can help you learn and be part of amazing sports and activities. Just reach out and try for the amazing experiences that you can achieve.
Please tell us a little bit more about yourself! What else would you like people to know about you?
I would like people to know that I am a friendly giant! I'm easy to talk to and I always try to be nice. I also enjoy collecting pins!
