When and how did you get involved with Special Olympics?
My parents got me involved in Special Olympics when I was nine years old.
Will these be your first Special Olympics Canada Games? If not, which other National Games did you compete in, and in what sports?
It will be my third Special Olympics Canada Winter Games. I went to Corner Brook, Newfoundland in 2016 and Thunder Bay, Ontario in 2020. However, I did go to my first Special Olympics Canada Summer Games held in Antigonish, Nova Scotia in 2018.
What were your results in the 2023 Special Olympics BC Winter Games? How did you feel about your performance?
I got two golds and two silvers medals. It went great and awesome.
What does it mean to you to be part of Special Olympics Team BC 2024?
It's a great honour to be part of Special Olympics Team BC and represent the province.
What is your goal for these National Games?
Doing my best, setting my personal best times, and hopefully winning medals. Have fun, and meet people from across the country no matter the results.
What does competing at National Games mean to you?
Racing and competing against other athletes from across Canada.
What do you like most about the sport you will compete in at National Games?
Sprinting and running fast.
What would you tell someone about Special Olympics to encourage them to get involved?
I would tell someone that Special Olympics has changed my life as it taught me to eat healthy food and the importance of working out. Making new friends, learning new sports, and having a supportive community that welcomes everyone.
Please tell us a little bit more about yourself! What else would you like people to know about you?
I love Special Olympics as I have gained confidence, learned many life skills, have had lots of fun, and it has improved my quality of life including, leading me to get the great job I have.
What is one word you would use to describe yourself? :)
Determined.
