When and how did you get involved with Special Olympics?

I started Special Olympics in 1996 so I can live a healthy lifestyle.

Will these be your first Special Olympics Canada Games? If not, which other National Games did you compete in, and in what sports?

No, I also went to National Games for track and field twice (2014 and 2018). This is my sixth National Games for snowshoeing.  (2004, 2008, 2012, 2016, and 2020).

What were your results in the 2023 Special Olympics BC Winter Games? How did you feel about your performance?

I got a gold in the relay, silver in the 400 metres, and two bronze in the 800 and 1600 metre races.

What does it mean to you to be part of Special Olympics Team BC 2024?

It is exciting because I have family that lives in Alberta.

What is your goal for these National Games?

To do my personal best, and to meet new people.

What does competing at National Games mean to you?

It helps me go to places I have never been before.

What do you like most about the sport you will compete in at National Games?

I am a expert at snowshoeing and I want to pass my skills to a younger generation.

What would you tell someone about Special Olympics to encourage them to get involved?

I would convince them to give it a try because it will help you meet new people and visit new places.

Please tell us a little bit more about yourself! What else would you like people to know about you?

I am employed at MVP five days a week (Tuesday to Saturday). I want people like me to set a very good example for people who want to do Special Olympics.

What is one word you would use to describe yourself

I am always independent, but sometimes I do need some help once in a while.
