Ellen's Fruit Smoothie Ideas
In my opinion, bought fruit smoothies are a little too sweet therefore I often make my own. You can add nuts and vegetables to your smoothies too but this a basic fruit recipe.
First, you need to find out how your blender works. Mine works in the way that you add the frozen fruit last, where most work that you add the frozen fruit first.
Basic Fruit Smoothie Recipe
For this recipe, you can add any fresh fruit, powers, nuts, or veggies
- Add 1/4 cup or less of liquid (Examples: Milk, Juice, or Water) *I find that juice or water is the best option. Milk I find takes away the taste of the frozen fruit and if you add too much you can often only taste the milk and not the fruit.
- Add two tablespoons of plain yogurt (Make sure it is not flavored yogurt)
- Add 1/4 to 1/2 cup of sour fruits (Examples: Red Currents, Cranberries, Partridgeberries, or Sour Cherries)
- Add 1/4 to 1/2 cup of sweet fruits (Examples: Bananas, Strawberries, Pears, Pineapple, or Sweet Cherries)
- Add 1/4 to 1/2 cup of in the middle fruits (Examples: Blueberries, Raspberries, Apples, Peaches, or Mango)
- Add two tablespoons of ground Flaxseed for extra fiber
- Blend it all up for 5 minutes or until your blender blends it up.
- Taste it with a spoon, decide for yourself if you need to add sugar or not for the fruits already have sugar in them. If it needs sugar then add one tablespoon or less of honey, then blend for 1-2 minutes.
- If it doesn’t need honey or sugar added then enjoy! It is easier to drink through a straw or a spoon to get all of the good stuff out.
