When and how did you get involved with Special Olympics?
I have been a coach for Special Olympics for eight years and my mom is also a coach so she told me all about it. I went to the bowling alley that Saturday and loved it and have been doing it ever since.
Will this be your first Special Olympics Canada Games? If not, which other National Games were you part of and in what role(s)?
This will be my first National Games.
What does it mean to you to be part of Special Olympics Team BC 2020?
It means being able to take a team to represent Team BC and to be able to meet new people and have the athletes do their best.
What is your favourite Special Olympics experience to date?
My favorite experience to date would be when I took my team to [the 2019 Special Olympics BC Winter Games in] Vernon last year and they came home with a gold medal, as well as individual medals.
What does competing at National Games mean to your athletes? (or, if this is your first National Games, competition in general)
This competing at National Games means to my athletes, being able to travel to another place and to do the best that they can do. Competition in general for me means doing you best at the sport that you enjoy. It's all about teamwork.
What storylines are you excited to see develop in your Team BC sport team leading up to the National Games?
I am excited to have athletes come together and become one large team and be able to represent Team BC.
What would you say about Special Olympics to encourage someone to get involved?
Special Olympics is amazing and they have amazing and fun sports. You always meet new people.
