When and how did you get involved with Special Olympics?
I started Special Olympics when I was 10 years old in the swimming program.
Will these be your first Special Olympics Canada Games? If not, which other National Games did you compete in, and in what sports?
This will be my fifth National Games. I took part in the 2008, 2012, and 2016 National Games for speed skating and the 2010 National Games for track and field.
What were your results in the 2019 Special Olympics BC Winter Games? How did you feel about your performance?
I won gold in all four of my races. I felt really good because I had trained very hard for those Games.
What does it mean to you to be part of Special Olympics Team BC 2020?
I think it's cool and awesome. I feel really lucky to make this team with so many friends.
What is your goal for these National Games?
I want to skate really well and do really well in all my races. I also want to see old friends and make new friends.
What does competing at National Games mean to you?
I get to represent Team BC and that makes me really proud of my accomplishments.
What do you like most about the sport you will compete in at National Games?
I love to race and speed skating is the fastest sport on ice!
What is your favourite Special Olympics experience to date?
My favourite Special Olympics experience to date is 2009 at the World Games in Boise. My grandma travelled from Winnipeg and saw me skate for the very first time.
What would you tell someone about Special Olympics to encourage them to get involved?
I would tell them it's really fun, you make a lot of new friends and the dances are amazing!
What other Special Olympics sports do you participate in?
Basketball, softball, soccer, golf, track and field, swimming, and Club Fit.
Please tell us a little bit more about yourself! What else would you like people to know about you?
I live with my parents and have two amazing older brothers. I love Disneyland, roller coasters, travelling, animals, and my iPhone! I love sports and being part of Special Olympics. I am an athlete speaker and like giving speeches. I belong to a community day program but my dream job is being a model!
What is one word you would use to describe yourself? :)
Fearless.
