When and how did you get involved with Special Olympics?

I joined six years ago when someone told me about Special Olympics sports and now I’m so attached, they're my second family.

Will these be your first Special Olympics Canada Games? If not, which other National Games did you compete in, and in what sports?

This will be my first Special Olympics Canada Games, it should be an amazing experience.

What were your results in the 2019 Special Olympics BC Winter Games? How did you feel about your performance?

My team, the Victoria Wolfpack, didn't win any games. We all did the best we could because we are a young, mixed team with some who hadn't been to Provincial Games before.

What does it mean to you to be part of Special Olympics Team BC 2020?

It means that my hard work is paying off. Thanks to Shannon Connie Radford for working on my diet and fitness also credit goes to the amazing training staff of the Victoria Wolfpack.

What is your goal for these National Games?

To get the Comox Vipers their first-ever Special Olympics Canada gold medal. I personally want to score two goals and unlimited assists.

What does competing at National Games mean to you?

It's amazing, but great things come with really hard work. I am happy to have pushed myself so hard the last six years playing floor hockey to get here. I thought I was going to be 30 before I would go to Nationals so this is a great honour to represent B.C. with the Comox Valley Vipers.

What do you like most about the sport you will compete in at National Games?

I like playing something very competitive and I like being in the action shooting and sometimes scoring.

What is your favourite Special Olympics experience to date?

Going to Vernon for the Provincial Winter Games in February 2019 would be my highlight of my sports career with Special Olympics.

What would you tell someone about Special Olympics to encourage them to get involved?

Don’t be scared, we always open with a smile. We are all very nice people and there are so many different sports to choose from plus there’s always friends to be made.

What other Special Olympics sports do you participate in?

I play softball and I am supposed to be taking part in Regional Qualifiers in the spring.

Please tell us a little bit more about yourself! What else would you like people to know about you?

I’m very outgoing and love playing sports to entertain people other than myself. I also do it because I love it and I’m really good at it. I also get to make lifelong friends.

What is one word you would use to describe yourself? :)

Strong.
