When and how did you get involved with Special Olympics?
In 2003 I got my first ever bowling trophy. I have been bowling from a very young age and I still am young! Ha! I also wanted to get into more competitive bowling competitions.
Will these be your first Special Olympics Canada Games? If not, which other National Games did you compete in, and in what sports?
In the 2010 National Summer Games, I participated in 5-pin bowling. In the 2012 and 2016 National Winter Games I did alpine skiing.
What were your results in the 2019 Special Olympics BC Winter Games? How did you feel about your performance?
I got gold in slalom, giant slalom, and the super-G races. I had a great feeling of accomplishment after a lot of hard work.
What does it mean to you to be part of Special Olympics Team BC 2020?
Very rewarding, it is not easy to qualify.
What is your goal for these National Games?
Bronze in 2012; silver in 2016; only one more step left! But the real goal is to prepare myself as best as I can to be successful.
What does competing at National Games mean to you?
A great sense of accomplishment and recognition for my hard work, and a chance to get to my first worlds!
What do you like most about the sport you will compete in at National Games?
Speed.
What is your favourite Special Olympics experience to date?
Going to Newfoundland for the 2016 National Games!
What would you tell someone about Special Olympics to encourage them to get involved?
It's good for sport skill development but it's a lot more than sports.
What other Special Olympics sports do you participate in?
Basketball, softball, and soccer.
Please tell us a little bit more about yourself! What else would you like people to know about you?
I have a great sense of humour. I like to travel but don't like the long flights or car rides that go with it!
What is one word you would use to describe yourself? :)
Committed.
