Special Olympics Team BC 2020 is dependent on the information and resources provided by the organizers of the Special Olympics Canada Winter Games Thunder Bay 2020, as well as Special Olympics Canada. Check out the National Games website and Friends & Family information page for more details.
Accommodations
The 2020 Special Olympics Canada Winter Games have provided information here. In late November, we were advised that there are still spaces available in several of the city's hotels.
Supporters registration
To connect with the Special Olympics Team BC 2020 supporters program, please contact mission staff Steve Oliver and Jason Yan. If you haven't been receiving Team BC 2020 supporters newsletters, please let them know.
Registration for the 2020 Special Olympics Canada Winter Games Family & Friends program has now closed. The 2020 SOC Games Organizing Committee will host a Family & Friends Dinner - please click here to learn more and purchase tickets. Tickets are $20 but limited to the first 500 people.
Team BC Supporters newsletter
Request to remove form
Families and supporters who wish to depart with their athlete(s) directly from the Games after the completion of the Games must complete and submit this form by January 15, 2020.
Travel dates
Team BC MEMBERS will be travelling from February 23 to March 1, and times are not finalized yet. Supporters do not need to be in Thunder Bay to meet the athletes, and do not need to book their travel around this. Once the travel schedule is available, it will be communicated ASAP.
Team BC email at Games
During the National Games, supporters are welcome to send notes of encouragement and congratulations to team members through the email address teambc@specialolympics.bc.ca.
This will be monitored by mission staff who will help deliver the messages to team members.We will not be able to answer questions or provide information or results through that avenue - such details will all be posted on the Team BC website at www.soteambc2020.ca.
Transportation
The Games Organizing Committee says Thunder Bay Transit Services provides transportation within the City of Thunder Bay city limits.
