Jodi HArper
Star (current & future leaders): Motivated, advocate, potential, visionary. A volunteer or contributor who is currently leading, serving or engaged in Special Olympics and who is inspiring positive growth and setting a future vision and improved standards for the organization.
Jodi has dedicated 15 years to the movement and is a foundational volunteer who fills many roles within the organization. Jodi is most known for her role as Head Coach of Athletics and the passionate member of the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics PEI. Jodi also supports many initiatives outside the scope of her two primary roles. Jodi has been someone athletes have respected and trust with sport and with life. We a pleased to present this recognition for her STAR leadership. Congratulations Jodi!
CY Holland
Star (current & future leaders): Motivated, advocate, potential, visionary. A volunteer or contributor who is currently leading, serving or engaged in Special Olympics and who is inspiring positive growth and setting a future vision and improved standards for the organization.
Having dedicated 35 years, CY is Special Olympics PEI's longest serving volunteer coach. Through his job as an educational assistant he has encouraged many of this students to try Special Olympics, leading to the phenomenal growth of the Charlottetown Floor Hockey program. As Head Coach of the Floor Hockey CY is well respected by the athletes in the program. CY has traveled to numerous National Games, as both coaching and mission staff roles. Congratulations CY, a very well deserved recipient with over 35 years’ experience in SOPEI!

PEI Mutual Insurance Company is the Founding Partner of Special Olympics PEI, and has contributed way more than financially to our organization. The company and their employees have really been actively engaged and enthusiastic about the athletes and the key initiatives of Special Olympics PEI. PEI Mutual really came alongside Special Olympics PEI when times were tough, and have continuously been more engaged as years passed. We are so privileged to be partnered with such an amazing company and group of individuals. Paul Phillips
Champion (athlete): Dedication, leadership, loyalty, excellence. An athlete, current or former, who inspires their community through their achievements in sport. Achievement can be defined by success on the playing field or by personal triumphs as a result of their participation in sport.
Paul Phillips, Summerside, has been a Special Olympics athlete for 27 years. Over the years Paul has participated in Athletics, Floor Hockey, 5-Pin Bowling, 10-Pin Bowling, and Curling. The 2018 Bowling Championships were Paul's 7th National Games. For the past 20 years, he has been a co-emcee, with Gino Reda, for our Special Olympics Festival and he is a highlight of the event. In recognition of his dedication and commitment, Special Olympics PEI inducted Paul into the Hall of Fame in 2012. Paul was also recognized for his work in the community by being awarded the Queen’s Jubilee Medal in 2012. Paul is also an enthusiastic member of the Athlete Leadership team in PEI and an Athlete Mentor with the Summerside Athletics program. He is a very well respected member of his community and someone who shares the spirit of Special Olympics.
Cecil Villard
Builder: Leadership, dedication, perseverance, impactful. A founder or originator of the movement or an element within the movement such as games or programs.
Cecil is a long time member of Special Olympics PEI and has contributed to much of the successes that we know of today in the movement. Cecil was an instrumental voice in the beginning of Special Olympics here on PEI. He has also served a number of years on the Board of Directors and has provided countless hours of volunteer consulting to both Special Olympics PEI and Special Olympics Canada on a number of initiatives or projects. It is a great pleasure to honor Cecil tonight with a 50th Anniversary award under the BUILDER category. Congratulations Cecil!
50 for 50 Campaign - Support our Movement
To celebrate the last 50 years, and to build a legacy for the next 50. Ahead of Giving Tuesday, November 27, we are launching a 50 for 50 campaign. We are looking for 50 supporters of our movement who will donate $50 to help support opportunities for our athletes.
