Special Olympics BC – Elk Valley volunteer Leandra Furber loves to work with young SOBC athletes.
“Young athletes are full of wonder while experiencing a new sport for the first time!” she says. “They are open to developing new skills and excited to learn. They express so much joy and I know that it is an opportunity to develop lifelong skills and passions.”
Along with being a youth program leader, Furber serves as SOBC – Elk Valley’s Treasurer, a position that sees her reconcile expenses and manage the Local’s budget. Furber says she was fortunate to be mentored by longstanding volunteer Nell McGarrigle.
As a member of SOBC – Elk Valley’s Local Committee, Furber says she is part of an amazing group of dedicated, experienced volunteers.
