Billy Acorn, Charlottetown, has been a Special Olympics PEI athlete for 6 years. Billy first joined Special Olympics because he wanted to play sports and travel. Billy is a multi-sport athlete, having participated in Softball, Floor Hockey, Soccer, 5-Pin Bowling and Bocce. When asked what his favourite sport is - Billy says they all are!
Billy is a member of Team PEI Softball for the 2018 National Summer Games. This is Billy's second National Games, having competed at the 2014 National Summer Games in Vancouver. In preparation for this summer's Games, Billy is participating in the Synergy Fitness Performance program. Billy enjoys going to Synergy; he says Synergy gives him more energy.
Billy's favourite Special Olympics memory is participating in the Opening Ceremonies at the 2014 Games when he met members of the BC Lions and Vancouver Canucks.
In his free time, Billy plays hockey and likes to ride his bike. Billy also likes to watch sports, mainly hockey (the Pitsburgh Penguins) and football (where he cheers for the New England Patriots).
