Nominations for the Hall of Fame are received from volunteers and athletes within each Local. Only one nomination per Local is accepted. Please contact Special Olympics BC Provincial Office for a nomination form.
The decision to induct an individual into the Special Olympics BC Hall of Fame is made by a committee comprised of the SOBC Board of Directors.
Criteria
Builder (Provincial/Local)
The individual selected for this honour will have:
- Made a fundamental, lasting and positive impact on the development of Special Olympics BC over a period of time;
- Made contributions and achieved accomplishments that have transcended the normal expectations of her/his role;
- Brought recognition and honour to SOBC;
- Been involved in Special Olympics BC for over four years.
Athlete
The individual selected for this honour will have:
- Attained a high level of excellence in sport at an international level;
- Made a significant impact on the community and SOBC through her/his achievements;
- Brought recognition and honour to SOBC;
- Been involved in Special Olympics BC for over four years.
Sponsor
The individual selected for this honour will have:
- Raised over $500,000 for Special Olympics BC, or had a significant impact for 10 years or more;
- Made contributions that have resulted in a major, fundamental and lasting impact on the development of Special Olympics BC over a period of time;
- Made contributions and achieved accomplishments that have transcended the normal expectations of their role;
- Brought recognition and honour to SOBC;
- Been involved with Special Olympics BC for over four years.
