Daniel Thomas was excited for the joy and celebration of sport at the 2023 Special Olympics BC Winter Games presented by Prospera Credit Union, which were SOBC’s first Provincial Games in four years due to the pandemic. These were also the SOBC – Vancouver athlete’s first SOBC Winter Games experience, as he usually competes in powerlifting, which is a summer sport.
Thomas welcomed the opportunity to try something new and reconnect with fellow athletes from across the province.
“They’re the first set of Games since the pandemic hit, and just to be able to have this return to normalcy, return to life once again, is just ecstatic. I’m having trouble describing just how over the moon I am that they’re coming back,” he said.
