2019 Lower Mainland Law Enforcement Torch Run routes

 

Information for speeches, photos, and refreshments is included when possible. Routes and times are subject to change, please check back for updates.
 

Day one: Tuesday June 4


Run Leg 1: Abbotsford (3.5 kilometres)

Dignitaries to speak before run

Start:  9 a.m. at Abbotsford Police Department, 2838 Justice Way 
Finish:  Abbotsford Police Department, 2838 Justice Way  
    
Route:     

  • Leave Abbotsford Police Department heading east (right) on George Ferguson Way
  • Right turn on Bourquin to South Fraser
  • Right turn on South Fraser Way
  • Right on Justice Way
  • Right on George Ferguson again
  • Right into APD parking lot (the same entrance we started from)


Run Leg 2: Chilliwack (Runners: 3.3 kilometres, walkers: 1.5 kilometres) 

Dignitaries to speak after run

Start:  11 a.m. 
Runners: at Sardis Secondary School, 45460 Stevenson Road
Walkers: Corner of Promontory Road and Vedder Road

Finish:  Pacific Regional Training Centre, 1101 Calais Crescent 

Route:            

  • Run from the school on Stevenson Road down to Vedder Road
  • Right on Vedder Road until Keith Wilson Road
  • Right on Keith Wilson Road
  • Left on Dieppe Place
  • Right on Calais Crescent 


Run Leg 3: Langley (3.5 kilometres)

Dignitaries to speak before run

Start:  12:45 p.m. at Langley RCMP Detachment, 22180 48A Avenue
Finish:  Langley RCMP Detachment
               
Route:     

  • Depart from the Detachment west on 48 Avenue  
  • Right on 216 Street 
  • Right on Fraser Highway 
  • Right on 222 Street back to the Detachment


Run Leg 4: Surrey (runners: 3 kilometres, walkers: 2 kilometres) 

Dignitaries to speak after run
     
Start:  2:30 p.m. at RCMP British Columbia Headquarters, 14200 Green Timbers Way
Finish:  RCMP British Columbia Headquarters

Run route:            

  • Right out of parking lot onto Green Timbers Way to 140 Street at light
  • Left (south) onto 140 Street, making your way immediately into the right-hand curb lane‎, then south on 140 Street to 96 Avenue at light
  • Right (west) on 96 Avenue to King George Boulevard
  • Right‎ (north) on King George Boulevard to 100 Avenue 
  • Right (east) on 100 Street to 140 Street 
  • Right (south) on 140 Street to Green Timbers Way 
  • Left (east) onto Green Timbers Way where the run group will meet up with the walkers
  • Both groups rally together then head east on Green Timbers Way to Green Timbers parking to finish together

Walk route:

  • Start in main parking lot opposite monument‎
  • Left out of parking lot on Green Timbers Way 
  • Right (west) on 96 Avenue at light along paved walkway adjacent to forest 
  • Right (north) on 140 Street past Jimmy Pattison Centre/Fraser Highway to Green Timbers Way at light
  • Right (east) on Green Timbers Way. The runners will meet the walkers at this corner. Both groups will converge at the Green Timbers parking lot entrance for the grand entrance and finale
     

Run Leg 5: White Rock (2.4 kilometres)

Dignitaries to speak after run

Start:  4:15 p.m. at 1519 Oxford Street upper and west lot
Finish:  White Rock RCMP Detachment, 15299 Pacific Avenue

Route:

  • North on Oxford Street
  • Right on North Bluff Road (16 Avenue)
  • Right on Foster Street
  • Left on Russell Avenue 
  • Right on Fir Street
  • Left on Buena Vista Avenue (past City Hall)
  • Right on Centre Street
  • Right on Pacific Avenue to the Detachment for refreshments


Day two: Wednesday, June 5


Run Leg 1: Burnaby (3.5 kilometres) 

Dignitaries to speak before run

Start:  10 a.m. at Shadbolt Centre for the Arts, East Lawn, 6450 Deer Lake Avenue
Finish:  Shadbolt Centre for the Arts, East Lawn

Route:    

  • Leaving the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts east lawn, turn left onto Deer Lake Avenue 
  • Right on Deer Lake Parkway
  • Right on Canada Way
  • Right on Sperling Avenue
  • Right on Deer Lake Avenue
  • Left to Shadbolt Centre for the Arts East Lawn


Run Leg 2: Vancouver (6.7 kilometres)

Dignitaries to speak after run

Start:  11:30 a.m. at Vancouver Police Department Headquarters, 2120 Cambie Street
Finish:  VPD Headquarters

Route:    

  • Right on W 2nd Avenue
  • Left on Quebec Street
  • Follow Quebec Street to Pacific Boulevard
  • Right on Abbott Street
  • Left on Pender Street
  • Left on Cambie Street
  • Right on Dunsmuir Street
  • Left on Granville Street
  • Left on Robson Street
  • Right on Beatty Street
  • Left on Nelson Street
  • Over Cambie Bridge
  • Left on W 7th Avenue
  • Left on Yukon Street
  • Left on W 5th Street to VPD Headquarters


Run Leg 3: North Vancouver/West Vancouver (7 kilometres) 

Dignitaries will speak before and after run

Start:  2:30 p.m. at North Vancouver RCMP Detachment, 147 East 14th Street
Finish:  West Vancouver Police Department, 755 16th Street W

Route: 

  • Direct route downhill from Detachment    
  • West on Marine Drive 
  • Right on 16th Street 
  • North on 16th Street to West Vancouver Police Department 


Day three: Thursday, June 6 


Run Leg 1: Maple Ridge (2.6 kilometres) 

Dignitaries to speak after run

Start:  10:45 a.m. at Memorial Peace Park – Haney Place
Finish:  Memorial Peace Park – Haney Place

Route: 

  • Start by the gazebo (Memorial Peace Park) heading west
  • Right (north) on 224 Street
  • Right (east) on Dewdney Trunk Road
  • Right (south) on 227 street
  • Right (west) on Lougheed Highway
  • Right (north) on 224 Street
  • Right at Memorial Peace Park and back into the breezeway
     

Run Leg 3: Port Moody/Coquitlam (5.6 kilometres)

Dignitaries to speak before, during, and after run

Start:  12:45 p.m. at Port Moody Police Department, 3051 Saint Johns Street
Finish:  Spirit Park – across the back of City Hall/ Coquitlam RCMP Detachment (2986 Guildford Way)

Route:    

  • Right on St Johns Street/Barnet Highway
  • Left on Ioco Road 
  • Left on Newport Drive to Port Moody City Hall
  • Brief stop at City Hall for speeches
  • Starting at 1:10 p.m., runners continue south on Ioco Road 
  • Left on Barnet Highway
  • Left on Lansdown Drive
  • Right on Glen Drive
  • Left on Pacific Street 
  • Right on Burlington Drive 
  • Arrive at Spirit Park
  • Barbecue to follow at Coquitlam RCMP Detachment/City Hall


Day four: Friday, June 7


Run Leg 1: New Westminster (3.5 kilometres)

Dignitaries to speak before and after run

Start:  9:45 a.m. at Justice Institute of British Columbia, 715 McBride Boulevard 
Finish:  Transit Police Headquarters, 300 – 287 Nelson’s Court

Route:        

  • Left on McBride Boulevard
  • Left on 6th Avenue
  • Right on Cumberland Street
  • Left on Richmond Street
  • Right on E 8th Avenue
  • Continue to Braid Street
  • Right on E Columbia Street
  • Left to Nelson’s Court
     

Run Leg 2: Richmond (3 kilometres)

Dignitaries to speak after run

Start:  11:30 a.m. at Cornerstone Evangelical Baptist Church, 7890 No. 5 Road
Finish:  Richmond RCMP Detachment, 11411 No. 5 Road 

Route:        

  • Depart from Cornerstone Evangelical Baptist Church
  • Left (south) on No. 5 Road
  • Right into Richmond RCMP Detachment parking lot


Run Leg 3: Delta/Ladner (4 kilometres)

Dignitaries to speak after run

Start:  1 p.m. at Lions Park, (Westminster Avenue and Elliott Street)
Finish:  Delta Police Department, 4455 Clarence Taylor Crescent

Route:        

  • Left on Westminster Avenue
  • Right on Elliott Street
  • Left on Trenant Street
  • Stop at Ladner Legion for photo
  • Left on Delta Street
  • Left on 48 Avenue 
  • Right on Elliott Street
  • Left on Ladner Trunk Road 
  • Right on Harvest Drive to Delta Police Department
