When and how did you get involved with Special Olympics?
Asked to help coach curling in Port Alberni on October 31st, 2006.
Will this be your first Special Olympics Canada Games? If not, which other National Games were you part of and in what role(s)?
No, I have been to the 2016 National Games in Corner Brook as a coach for Powell River.
What does it mean to you to be part of Special Olympics Team BC 2024?
Excited to help a group of dedicated athletes have a chance to experience something extraordinary.
What is/are your goal(s) for these National Games?
My goal is to support SO Team BC as a whole, and in particular, curlers from across the province, especially Quesnel. I want them to enjoy their experience and succeed as a team.
What is your favourite Special Olympics experience to date?
My favourite experience is watching athletes compete to the best of their ability, while acting with true sportsmanship at all times.
What does competing at National Games mean to your athletes? (or, if this is your first National Games, competition in general)
These National Games are the culmination of many years of hard work and shows that their determination has not gone unnoticed or tempered.
What storylines are you excited to see develop in your SO Team BC sport team leading up to the National Games?
After the wildfires throughout the province earlier this year, the athletes and coaches have kept working so they are ready to compete at the highest levels.
What would you say about Special Olympics to encourage someone to get involved?
Special Olympics is an opportunity to be involved with group of athletes, coaches, and volunteers that are dedicated, excited, passionate, and motivated to see the athletes compete to their full potential in several individual and team sports. The athletes and coaches will work together to excel at their chosen sport while acting as ambassadors for their communities by having fun and supporting each other.
