When and how did you get involved with Special Olympics?
In December 2018 with alpine skiing.
Will these be your first Special Olympics Canada Games? If not, which other National Games did you compete in, and in what sports?
Yes, this will be my first National Games.
What were your results in the 2023 Special Olympics BC Winter Games? How did you feel about your performance?
Three golds. It was a truly unexpected outcome, just based on gold and bronze placing a year prior.
What does it mean to you to be part of Special Olympics Team BC 2024?
Honoured. I never expected to make it past Regional Qualifiers, but here we are at National Games.
What is your goal for these National Games?
Show up. If it lands me any medals and a one-way ticket to World Games, that’s a bonus.
What does competing at National Games mean to you?
Being able to represent those who have come before me (as in coaches, athletes, staff members, volunteers, and everyone who made everything possible).
What do you like most about the sport you will compete in at National Games?
As I have said many times before, and I will say again, it’s really … a-pole-big… (ba dum tssss).
What would you tell someone about Special Olympics to encourage them to get involved?
Depends on the conversation at hand. On a general note, if you have time and/or something that SO is missing, we could use it.
Please tell us a little bit more about yourself! What else would you like people to know about you?
Just be careful about what you say, as I may try to squeeze in a pun or few.
What is one word you would use to describe yourself? :)
Quirky.
