When and how did you get involved with Special Olympics?

2011.

Will these be your first Special Olympics Canada Games? If not, which other National Games did you compete in, and in what sports?

This will be my third time. I went to Corner Brook for alpine skiing, then to Thunder Bay for snowshoeing.

What were your results in the 2023 Special Olympics BC Winter Games? How did you feel about your performance?

I got two silver medals for the 1600 metre and 800 metre. I got a gold medal for my 5 kilometre. I felt fantastic because the 5K is a new distance for me, this makes me feel powerful.

What does it mean to you to be part of Special Olympics Team BC 2024?

Team BC members inspire me to be better in my sports. I am proud to be part of Team BC, I want to be stronger.

What is your goal for these National Games?

I want to be helpful to athletes and coaches. I want to have the fastest time in my runs.

What does competing at National Games mean to you?

I am powerful and I am important, people see me and my friends.

What do you like most about the sport you will compete in at National Games?

Snowshoeing makes me want to push myself, I can still go out and run in the winter.

What would you tell someone about Special Olympics to encourage them to get involved?

If you can inspire others you are an awesome coach. I believe that all athletes can do well and they all matter.

Please tell us a little bit more about yourself! What else would you like people to know about you?

I went to Germany to represent Canada at the 2023 Global Athlete Congress in Berlin. I love that I am the Athlete Input Council member for Region 7. I raise awareness of the things that we all can do. I also like hanging out with my animals and whittling.

What is one word you would use to describe yourself?

Powerful.
