When and how did you get involved with Special Olympics?

My first Special Olympics sport was basketball and I was 16 years old.

Will these be your first Special Olympics Canada Games? If not, which other National Games did you compete in, and in what sports?

No. I participated in the 2014 National Games in basketball and 2020 National Games in snowshoeing.

What does it mean to you to be part of Special Olympics Team BC 2024?

I am proud to be part of Special Olympics Team BC and it gives me a chance to qualify for the World Games.

What is your goal for these National Games?

To compete and improve my racing times. Winning another medal and qualifying for the World Games would be awesome!

What does competing at National Games mean to you?

Travelling to Thunder Bay and competing with my friends in the 2020 National Games in snowshoeing.

What do you like most about the sport you will compete in at National Games?

It's exciting and an honour to be able to represent Team BC at the National Games.

What would you tell someone about Special Olympics to encourage them to get involved?

I would ask, "Have you ever tried doing a sport in Special Olympics?" Before I became a Special Olympics athlete, I knew very little about sports. Special Olympics has given me many new opportunities. I have tried new sports, won medals, met new people, and made lasting friendships.
