When and how did you get involved with Special Olympics?
I started with SOBC – Richmond in their swim program for three years and then came on as staff in 2017!
Will this be your first Special Olympics Canada Games? If not, which other National Games were you part of and in what role(s)?
I was part of Team BC to Antigonish, Nova Scotia, for the 2018 National Summer Games. I went as a mission staff.
What does it mean to you to be part of Special Olympics Team BC 2020?
I get to be part of supporting a tremendous group of athletes to reach their goals. They've been training in their sports for four years, and it is extremely rewarding to be able to share in their journey and successes along the way!
What is/are your goal(s) for these National Games?
To leave no bodies behind. I strive to ensure each athlete, coach, and mission staff on the team has a positive experience both at Games and the journey leading up to it.
What is your favourite Special Olympics experience to date?
When I left the 2018 Team BC Bowling Training Camp with my bowling shoes on.
What storylines are you excited to see develop in your Team BC sport team leading up to the National Games?
The camaraderie that will build between athletes, coaches, mission staff, sports, and teams as we share experiences.
What would you say about Special Olympics to encourage someone to get involved?
The value of Special Olympics to our athletes is unparalleled and worth the dedication and time.
