Adding on to our Volunteer Professional Development Series, Special Olympics BC is thrilled to offer another virtual workshop on Sexual Health: Supporting Conversations with Athletes.
Tuesday, June 8, at 6:30 P.M. PT (7:30 P.M. MT)
Facilitated by Kimberley Rutledge, this session on approaching topics of sexual health with athletes will inform coaches on both what athletes have been learning through personal health programming as well as how to navigate difficult conversations.
Session topics to be covered will include:
• sexual health and individuals with intellectual disabilities
• sex-positivity and inclusivity
• mitigating risk and promoting safety
• the mechanics of listening and supporting
Of course, we all want the same thing for our athletes, for them to be healthy and happy! This session will help in navigating some of those more difficult conversations as well as identifying red flags to help protect athletes from harm.
Please register here.
Video and microphones are optional to use for attendees, but we recommend having a second device (such as a phone) available for an interactive software we will be using.
