2025 SOBC Games: Volunteer Opportunities

Change lives, including yours! Volunteer with the 2025 Special Olympics BC Summer Games to help 1,200 athletes with intellectual disabilities have the empowering experience of showing their abilities and achieving their dream in provincial competition.

There will be many rewarding volunteer roles to make the Special Olympics BC Games possible from July 10 to 12, 2025. No matter your skills and background, we have a role where you will make a difference and share the joy! 

Please express your interest so the Special Olympics BC Games can contact you when Games volunteer registration officially opens in spring 2025.

Volunteer with the 2025 Special Olympics BC Summer Games

The SOBC Games will welcome volunteers in the following areas:

  • Sport: officials (must be certified) and general sport volunteers (no certification required)
  • Accommodations, Security, and Medical: supporting operations at sport venues and team accommodation sites*
  • Food Services and Logistics: helping set up venues, serve food, and support operations - FOODSAFE certification is an asset where available
  • Ceremonies: helping execute the Opening Ceremony and medal presentations (open to public), as well as the Victory Dance (not public)
  • Volunteer Services: supporting volunteer operations
  • Public Relations: capturing photos, video, and storytelling content from the amazing moments of the Games
  • Healthy Athletes Screenings: supporting operations at the Special Olympics Healthy Athletes screenings that will be offered during the SOBC Games
  • And General Support: willing to help anywhere!

*Volunteers for the vital roles in accommodations, medical, and security must complete a Criminal Record Check prior to the Games. Instructions will be provided for this quick and free of charge process!

Are you 14-19 years old and interested in volunteering? We welcome and celebrate you! Special Olympics BC Games volunteers must be at least 14 years old. For volunteers between the ages of 14 and 19, a parent or guardian must complete the registration form on your behalf - please contact volunteers@specialolympics.bc.ca for instructions.

Volunteer with year-round Special Olympics programs

In addition - if you'd like to make an immediate impact and build inclusion in your community, volunteer with year-round Special Olympics BC sport, youth, and health programs in Prince George and communities all across the province! 

No experience is required, just a desire to make a difference with your time and talents with as little as an hour a week.
