Games Coordinator - Metro Area
Special Olympics NL is dedicated to enriching the lives of individuals with an intellectual disability through sport. We are seeking an enthusiastic and energetic individual to help plan and deliver provincial multi-sport competitions. The Special Olympics NL Summer Series welcomes over 500 athletes, coaches, and volunteers throughout NL. The successful candidate will work closely with provincial office staff and the Organizing Committees (OC) to deliver a successful competitive and social experience for all involved.
Location: St. John’s Start Date: May 30, 2022 End Date: July 22, 2022
Term: 35 hrs/week, 8-week contract. Rate of Pay: $14.50/hr + travel/meal allowance
duties include:
- Assist in developing an event planner, including timelines and schedules.
- Serve as ex-officio on all Games subcommittees, attending meetings as requested.
- Maintain a volunteer database and assist with recruitment, orientation, and training.
- Provide support to subcommittees as required. (Preparing and distributing meeting materials, arranging meeting date/time/location, contacting attendees, etc.)
- Work as both part of a team and independently, managing multiple tasks.
- Complete other duties as assigned by the GOC or staff.
qualifications:
- Education or equivalent work experience in sport, recreation, or volunteer/event management.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
- Working knowledge of M365, including but not limited to Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Experience using social media platforms, Zoom and graphic creation software.
- Able to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends.
- Ability to work from home and travel on occasion (have access to own vehicle)
- Experience working/volunteering with individuals with an intellectual disability.

- Current criminal record checks with vulnerable sector screening.
- Must be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period.
- Must meet all eligibility requirements as outlined by Service Canada

Assistant Games Coordinator - Grand Falls-Windsor Area
Special Olympics NL is dedicated to enriching the lives of individuals with an intellectual disability through sport. We are seeking an enthusiastic and energetic individual to help support provincial multi-sport competitions. Special Olympics NL is hosting two major games in 2022 and 2023. Each welcomes over 500 athletes, coaches, and volunteers throughout NL. The successful candidate will work closely with provincial office staff, the Games Coordinator and both Games Organizing Committees (GOC) to deliver successful competitive and social experiences for all involved.
Location: Grand Falls-Windsor Start Date: May 30, 2022 End Date: July 22, 2022
Term: 30 hrs/week, 8-week contract. Rate of Pay: $13.20/hr + travel/meal allowance
