Sobeys, Safeway, Thrifty Foods, IGA, Urban Fresh and Foodland stores across Canada (excluding Quebec) raised a record $930,000 for Special Olympics athletes across the country.
From June 20 to July 3, Sobeys Inc. launched its second annual in-store fundraiser asking customers to donate $2 when they check out with their groceries.
The campaign’s first year ran for 10 days in September 2018, raising an impressive $700,000. This year, it ran for 14 days, raising $929,980.
The funds raised will support 47,500 Canadians with an intellectual disability – of all ages and skill levels – who participate in Special Olympics programming across the country.
