How long have you been involved with Special Olympics?

I have been involved with Special Olympics for 4 years. I first joined Special Olympics speed skating and swimming in 2017.

How is your life different since joining Special Olympics?

Since joining Special Olympics, I have made losts of new friends and am more independent. I am a more confident athlete and I have more fun in sports.

How have you been preparing yourself for competition?

I am very determined and I work hard. When training is difficult and I feel like quitting, I think about Special Olympics athlete Chris Nikic, the first Ironman with Down Syndrome, and how he kept going.

What is the biggest challenge you have overcome in your life?

My biggest challenge was overcoming unhealthy eating habits and an inactive lifestyle. When I started speed skating I wanted to win so I trained hard and changed my habits.

What accomplishment are you most proud of?

I am very proud of skating four new personal bests at the Special Olympics Canada Winter Games.

What does Special Olympics and attending World Games mean to you?

Special Olympics helps me to be the best athlete I can be and I want to show the world in Russia.
