The Special Olympics Canada 2016 Winter Games have officially begun! With remarks from the Mayor of Corner Brook, Charles Pender, MP Judy Foote, Chair of the Board of Directors of Special Olympics Canada, Mike Lamontagne and Len Moores, Chair of the Games Organizing Committee, the Opening Ceremonies were a resounding success.
Kicking off with an incredible parade of athletes and featuring performances from Sherman Downey, Dance Studio West and local legendary band, the Navigators, the Opening Ceremonies were capped off with members of the Law Enforcement Torch Run from across Canada lighting the cauldron to signify the official start of the Special Olympics Canada 2016 Winter Games.
