Biography:

49-year-old Sheryl Jakubowski from Fort St. John, B.C. has been a proud Special Olympics athlete for 20 years. She won two Bronze and a Gold at previous World Games, one Bronze and two Golds at the National Games, and numerous medals at the Provincial Games. Sheryl competed in snowshoeing in Pyeong Chang and also participates in track and field, 5-pin bowling, and Club Fit. Sheryl’s daughters are also Special Olympics athletes participating in figure skating and 5- pin bowling. Sheryl credits Special Olympics with giving her increased self-esteem and enabling her to meet new friends and prove she has talents. While she was very nervous at her first World Games, she states she was able to get through with support from her teammates. Her goals for the 2019 World Games are to bring home several medals and make lots of friends.
