It was another successful day for Special Olympics Team Canada!

While Thursday was a competition day for only five of ten sports, Canada added 11 to their medal count – bringing the total to 58 (33 gold, 8 silver and 17 bronze). A round of applause for our rhythmic gymnasts and golfers who have now completed competition and will be cheering on their teammates for the rest of their time in Berlin.

The next few days will see finals for swimming, athletics, bocce, powerlifting and team sports (women’s basketball, men’s basketball and women’s soccer).

Please join us in cheering on our athletes through this final push!

IN The spotlight

Tyler Carter

Saskatchewan’s Taylor Carter says it’s meant a lot to have his older brother caddie for him at World Games.

“It’s pretty special. We’ve had a lot of good success over the years, and we support each other,” he says.

After the first two days on the course, Taylor says he was feeling frustrated with his game. Then, on Wednesday, with some help from his brother, he was able to refocus. He then shot what he describes as his best round of golf in any competition.

“I thank you, Tyler, for helping me. After my hardest round yesterday, you helped me stay calm, focused — and your advice really helped me mentally with each shot. Really happy you were there for me today.”

QUOTE OF THE DAY

After Saskatchewan’s Tyler Servant swam to gold with the men’s relay team, ESPN asked him if he feels like a superhero.

“No. Just another day at the office.”
