How long have you been involved with Special Olympics?

I joined Special Olympics in 2014. I was eight years old.

How is your life different since joining Special Olympics?

The impact of Special Olympics has been a positive one. I have made a new group of friends and connections with like-minded athletes and families. Special Olympics opened up a world of opportunities.

How have you been preparing yourself for competition?

I have been working to increase my endurance, strength and agility to reach my personal best at the World Games.

What is the biggest challenge you've overcome in your life?

When I was only 11 years old, I broke my leg skiing. After that, I was scared to start the next ski season because I was afraid I would fall and hurt myself again. I didn’t want my fear to stop me from achieving my goals. After five weeks after getting my cast off, I competed at the Provincial Games in swimming and was able to bring home three golds, and a silver medal!

What accomplishment are you most proud of?

I am most proud of my efforts in improving my health and physical abilities with my daily training. Of course I am also proud to be going to the World Games!

What does Special Olympics and attending World Games mean to you?

Special Olympics makes me feel enriched and happy. I look forward to representing Canada in Russia!
