How long have you been involved with Special Olympics?
I have been involved for 15 years. I first joined the swimming program when I was 12 years old.
How is your life different since joining Special Olympics?
It has given me an amazing group of friends, it has offered opportunity to travel and has made me super healthy.
How have you been preparing yourself for competition?
I try to train 5 days a week. I want to be stronger and faster!
What is the biggest challenge you have overcome in your life?
My health; I was born with congenital heart defects but after surgery and having a healthier lifestyle and being part of Special Olympics, it has made a big difference in my overall health.
What accomplishment are you most proud of?
I am proud of how hard I train and compete, and I am proud of having been named both Special Olympics BC and Special Olympics Canada Athlete of the Year.
What does Special Olympics and attending World Games mean to you?
I am honored and feel lucky and proud to be representing Special Olympics and Canada.
