How long have you been involved with Special Olympics?
I first joined in 2013 and my first Provincial competition with the movement was in 2014.
How is your life different since joining Special Olympics?
I feel like part of a big family now. And I have grown both as an athlete and a person.
How have you been preparing yourself for competition?
I train 2 hours a day on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. I train hard and taking dance breaks keep me centred.
What is the biggest challenge you have overcome in your life?
Taking my first flight for a competition was a challenge but I was only 15 at the time – now I’m older and ready to go.
What accomplishment are you most proud of?
Winning a gold medal at the Canada Games!
What does Special Olympics and attending World Games mean to you?
It’s like coming full circle. I worked my very hardest and now my efforts are rewarded because I get to go to World Games.
