How long have you been involved with Special Olympics?

I first joined in 2013 and my first Provincial competition with the movement was in 2014.

How is your life different since joining Special Olympics?

I feel like part of a big family now. And I have grown both as an athlete and a person.

How have you been preparing yourself for competition?

I train 2 hours a day on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. I train hard and taking dance breaks keep me centred.

What is the biggest challenge you have overcome in your life?

Taking my first flight for a competition was a challenge but I was only 15 at the time – now I’m older and ready to go.

What accomplishment are you most proud of?

Winning a gold medal at the Canada Games!

What does Special Olympics and attending World Games mean to you?

It’s like coming full circle. I worked my very hardest and now my efforts are rewarded because I get to go to World Games.
