How long have you been involved with Special Olympics?
It has been around 15 years. I started a learn to skate program and loved skating, then I started Speed Skating about 5 years ago.
How is your life different since joining Special Olympics?
I enjoy being part of a team and attending competitions. Meeting new people and making friends is great!
How have you been preparing yourself for competition?
I train 4 to 6 days a week. My goal is to get a personal best in all my races. Getting a medal and standing on the podium in my Team Canada uniform would be a dream come true.
What is the biggest challenge you have overcome in your life?
Many activities are a challenge, I just have to keep trying and practicing.
What accomplishment are you most proud of?
I'm very proud of the medals I have won at the Provincial and National Games and now being selected to the Special Olympics Team Canada 2022 Training Squad. I'm proud of how excited my family and friends are and how much they support me.
What does Special Olympics and attending World Games mean to you?
Special Olympics has given me the opportunity to train and compete with other athletes. I'm very proud to get the chance to represent Canada in front of the world in a different country.
