What are the Generic Games?
The Generic Games is a games cycle separate from the Special Olympics games cycle. There are two Game cycles to note: the Saskatchewan Games and the Canada Games.
Saskatchewan Games: The Saskatchewan Games are our province's biennial celebration of sport, culture, and community. Taking place every two years and alternating between summer and winter, the Saskatchewan Games provide an opportunity for our province's developing athletes, coaches, and officials to experience an exciting and inclusive multi-sport event and serve as a springboard to higher levels of competition, including the Canada Games.
Canada Games: The Canada Games brings together more than 2,000 able-bodied athletes and athletes with physical and intellectual disabilities for the largest amateur multi-sport event in the country. Alternating between winter and summer, they span over 30 different sports to showcase the very best in Canadian sport and spirit.
