How long have you been involved with Special Olympics?
I have been involved since 1998.
How is your life different since joining Special Olympics?
Special Olympics has granted me a better sense of patience, understanding, and appreciate of so many facets of life. I continue to be inspired by so many of our athletes to be kinder, calmer, and more present in the moment.
What do you like most about the sport you will be participating in at Special Olympics World Summer Games Berlin 2023?
Being the chief medical officer for Special Olympics Canada is the single best thing I do with my MD. I enjoy using my training to provide the healthiest, safest environment for our athletes and team members.
What is your proudest moment with Special Olympics?
The time in Austria that an athlete completely destroyed her personal best in a race, and got gold, pushed her coach over that was trying to congratulate her yelling 'Stop! I gotta tell the doctor!'
What does Special Olympics and attending World Games mean to you?
It is a privilege and an honour to get to be a part of Team Canada. I am not sure words can describe how lucky and thankful I feel to have gotten to go with as many teams as I have.
What is your goal for Special Olympics World Games Berlin 2023?
To avoid any hospital visits. Aside from that, to have as much fun as possible, and drink in as much of the moment. in the moment, as possible!
