Athletics
All athletes except one was able to attend the training camp weekend on November 17 to 19 at Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT). There was lots of team bonding activities along with fitness, conditioning, yoga, and strength and conditioning with Alberta Sport Development Centre (ASDC). Bocce
All athletes and coaches attended the training camp on November 12 at Collicutt Centre in Red Deer. The athletes took part in yoga class, fitness, competitions and line dancing!
Swim: Awesome training with all coaches! The swim team shared the campus with athletics for the first sport specific training camp on November 17 to 19 at SAIT. All the coaches bonded while cooking meals for the athletes. There was a good focus on strength and conditioning.
Basketball
The team is working on conditioning, strength, fitness and looking at February for a sport specific training camp.
Rhythmic Gymnastics
Athletes are training hard and cross training with other sports. They’re doing fitness testing and looking forward to a sport specific training camp in the spring of next year.
Golf
With golf athlete spread out throughout the province, head coach, there’s been good contact with training coaches who are all on board to get athletes skills ready. Golf plans on having a training camp in Sherwood Park at the end of February.
Powerlifting
Athletes are all training and will take on a generic meet for their training camp in February.
TEAM ALBERTA'S VALUES

For 5-pin bowling, 10-pin bowling, soccer and softball, all Team Alberta athletes have started their regular sport programs since the start of the fall and have taken on fitness testing.
Each athlete on Team Alberta has made a promise to train at least two times a week with coaches monitoring their fitness testing. For more details and news on Team Alberta 2018, check out Team Alberta’s website www.specialolympics.ca/2018-team-alberta.
Outstanding support and awareness of athletes taking on fundraising with Team Alberta’s Personal Best. Athletes have raised over $19,000 which is 43% towards their goal.
Supporters and partners are able to support Team Alberta with Draft an Athlete as well, to gain inside updates on an athlete’s journey to national games.
