Special Olympics Saskatchewan hosted two Baggo (Cornhole) tournaments in late February, Regina's was on Feb 25 hosted at the Affinity Plex, and Saskatoon's was on Feb 26 hosted at the Saskatoon Soccer center. We had 15 school's participate between the 2 tournaments, with over 180 Unified athletes and over 120 Unified athlete partners plus coaches.
Special Olympics Unified sports is a program where Special Olympics athletes and partner athletes come together on the same team for the same goal-working together to win the game. Unified partners are players assisting our athletes in the knowledge of the rules of the game as well as promoting social inclusion and just having a good time.
This inclusive recreational tournament had some nail biting competition, as well as some beginner level fun. There was age groups from 5 years old, all the way to 21 years old.
Athletes ended the competition receiving participant ribbons.
Thanks to everyone that helped make the tournaments a success, and thanks to our athletes for playing hard and making the day very memorable.
We can't wait until next year.
