EDMONTON, AB, February 13, 2020- Team Alberta ready to represent Alberta at 2020 Special Olympics Canada Winter Games in Thunder Bay.
The team consisting of 97 athletes will compete in eight winter sports: 5-pin bowling, alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, curling, figure skating, floor hockey, snowshoeing, and speed skating from February 25 to 29.
“We are very excited to have representation from across the province and to be taking some athletes and coaches who have never been to a National games before and others who can show them the ropes,” says Team Alberta Chef de Mission Jodi Flanagan. “This is a great team who will work together and support each other in achieving their goals – a true Wolfpack.”
Special Olympics Alberta invites media to request interviews prior to Nationals. Media is also welcome to see the team off and get final interviews before they fly out from the Calgary International Airport and Edmonton International Airport on Monday, February 24.
Team Alberta members departing from Edmonton will be available before they proceed past security at 5:15 a.m. and members departing from Calgary will be available before they proceed past security at 6:30 a.m.
