Special Olympics Athletes Compete at the 2015 Western Canada Games Wood Buffalo

 

The Western Canada Summer Games 2015 Wood Buffalo is the largest multi-sport event to be hosted in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo. With over 2500 athletes from Canada’s four western provinces (British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba)  and three northern territories (Northwest Territories, Yukon and Nunavut) will be competing in 18 sports August 7 to 16.

 

From the 411 members of Team Alberta, 6 athletes will proudly represent Special Olympics Alberta.  Our athletes competing are:
 

Athletics:

 

Devyn Renzetti
Age: 20
Hometown: Olds
5th in  in 100m sprint, 5th in 200m sprint and 4th long jump

 

Michael Sugden
Age: 24
Hometown: Red Deer
6th in 100m sprint, 6th in 200m sprint and 5th in long jump

Devyn and Michael will be supported by coach, Amy Poole from Calgary.
 

Swimming:

 

Misty Olsen
Age: 22
Hometown: Olds
1st in 50m freestyle, 1st in 100m freestyle, 1st in 50m backstroke and 2nd in 50m breaststroke


Sarah Schmick
Age: 22
Hometown: Airdrie
5th in 50m freestyle, 5th in 100m freestyle, 3rd in 50m backstroke and 3rd in 100m backstroke.

 

Connor Bissett
Age: 15
Hometown: Whitecourt
2nd in 50m freestyle, 2nd in 100m freestyle, 3rd in 50m backstroke, and 3rd 100m backstroke.

 

Elliott Moskowy
Age: 24
Hometown: Red Deer
3rd in 50m freestyle, 3rd in 100m freestyle, 4th in 50m backstroke and 4th in 100m backstroke

The swimming team will be supported by coach, Wendy Nelson from Lethbridge.
 

Our athletes and coaches are eager to create memorable experiences and accomplish their personal best with their fellow Team Alberta competitors.
