Polar Plunge for Special Olympics BC

Polar Plungers in their costumes running excitedly into the water

Plungers got bold and cold to empower Special Olympics BC athletes!

From February 17 to March 3, anyone and everyone participated in the 2024 Polar Plunge for Special Olympics BC. Participants took the #Plunge4SOBC and raised vital funds to support Special Olympics BC’s life-changing year-round sport, youth, and health programs for athletes with intellectual disabilities!

Participating in the Polar Plunge for Special Olympics BC was an easy and fun way for all of us to connect and show we care about people with intellectual disabilities and creating inclusion.

Make a difference for Special Olympics BC

This year, the Polar Plunge for Special Olympics BC played a vital part in helping athletes find purpose, friendships, and fitness through the Special Olympics sport, youth, and health programs that matter to them.

Too many people with intellectual disabilities are still being left behind and forgotten by our society. They knew the pain of loneliness long before the pandemic. For many Special Olympics BC athletes, our year-round sport, youth, and health programs are the primary place – or for too many, the only place – where they experience vital social connections, healthy physical activity, and opportunities to be seen for their abilities.

Special Olympics is a catalyst for social change. Through the power and joy of sport, Special Olympics athletes open hearts and minds to their abilities, and build stronger communities that thrive in showing inclusion and respect for people with intellectual disabilities.

Your Plunge will help support the life-changing work of Special Olympics BC’s safe and inclusive programs for athletes with intellectual disabilities.
